Attorney Spotlight – Lyndsay Markley

On October 8 & 9, 2019, Lyndsay Markley, principal of Lyndsay Markley Law, acted as a guest speaker and panelist at Ignite2019 a National Prevention Conference hosted by Darkness to Light with the goal of uniting “child sexual abuse professionals and experts, researchers, and individuals from a wide variety of disciplines who share a commitment to the prevention of child sexual abuse.”

Markley spoke on effectively and responsibly representing victims of sexual abuse in civil cases as part of Ignite’s legal track which is focused on increasing awareness of unique factors associated with representing victims of sexual abuse. Markley also spoke on a panel with the Honorable Richard A. Dollinger, a judge of the New York Court of Claims and an acting Supreme Court Justice assigned to matrimonial matters in Rochester, New York addressing a variety of topics including providing education on the importance of training relating to grooming behavior by sexual predators in youth serving organizations and increasing outcomes in cases arising from sexual abuse.

The Keynote speaker for the event was Aly Raisman, team captain of the gold medal winning Women’s Gymnastics teams in 2012 and 2016, is the second most decorated American gymnast of all-time with six total Olympic medals and survivor of sexual abuse during her participation in youth gymnastics.

Said Markley regarding her participation in this event, “As an advocate for survivors of sexual abuse of course my primary goal is to ensure that each survivor receives the compensation they deserve but I do not want my participation in this crisis to not end at the courtroom door. I want to help prevent child sexual abuse from occurring in the future with awareness and education.”
